During the 1970s and 80s journalist Maureen Duffus wrote numerous articles for the Islander, formerly the weekend magazine of the Daily Colonist, now the Times Colonist. Subjects included history, hydrography, ballet and fashion. Early Victoria history is the main topic of most of her talks.

Article subjects included:

The section on A Century of Fashion, from crinolines to mini skirts, was written for a Centennial edition of the Colonist. Other articles on the history of fashion in Victoria appeared in the newspaper over the years.
